Big M to offer new series for trotters

East Rutherford, NJ — Meadowlands Racetrack will be holding a new series for 3-year-old trotters in the month of June.

The series will be for non-winners of two extended pari-mutuel races or $25,000 lifetime up to and including June 5, 2011.

A pair of $15,000 legs will be held on Friday, June 10, and Friday, June 17. A $40,000 final will be contested on Friday, June 24.

There is no entry fee.

The box will close the Monday prior to the Friday race at 9 a.m.

Nominations close Thursday for Summer Survivor Series

Nominations are due Thursday, May 19, for the Summer Survivor Series, Meadowlands Racetrack’s newest event for 3-year-old pacers.

The Summer Survivor Series, which begins June 2, is for non-winners of two pari-mutuel races or $25,000 lifetime as of May 1, 2011. Winners over $75,000 lifetime are ineligible.

The series consists of two $12,500 preliminary brackets and a $15,000 semi-final round that will decide the field for an estimated $100,000 final on July 2.

Schedules set for schooling, baby races

Schooling will be held for 2-year-olds on Monday, May 23, through Wednesday, May 25, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Saturday baby races will begin May 28, with the entry box closing on 4 p.m. Thursdays. Two-year-olds must have electronic eligibility papers to enter baby races.
