Nineteen Grand Circuit events took place this past weekend, beginning in Canada on Friday (Aug. 25) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with the Grade 3 Casual Breeze for 3-year-old trotting fillies and the elimination for the Grade 1 Maple Leaf Trot. Also, at The Meadowlands, the third leg of the Kindergarten Series for 2-year-old trotters and pacers was contested on Saturday (Aug. 26) night. Shifting to the “Buckeye” state of Ohio for the Grade 3 Nadia Lobell and Moni Maker at Scioto Downs on Saturday, we also continued in Canada with the Grade 1 finals for the William Wellwood and Peaceful Way, along with the Canadian Pacing Derby eliminations. The same card also had the Grade 3 Nassagaweya and Eternal Camnation for 2-year-old pacers of each sex.
For the coming weekend there is a light schedule for the Grand Circuit events with only four Grand Circuit events at Woodbine Mohawk Park including the Grade 1 finals of the Maple Leaf Trot and the Canadian Pacing Derby. Also, on the card the Grade 3 Simcoe stakes for 3-year-old trotting colts and fillies.
