Black Mamba As’s 1:55 triumph at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Tuesday was the quickest mile ever recorded by a 3-year-old trotting filly over the five-eighths mile oval.

Driver Elliott Deaton was content to sit fifth through the first half-mile of the race, then moved the daughter of Lionhunter up to third on the outside at the three-quarters and sailed home a four-length winner in 1:55. The clocking shaved one-fifth of a second off the previous standard shared by Herbies Wildflower and Consolidator.

Anette Lorentzon conditions the striking black filly for ACL Stuteri Ab of Paris, Ky. Black Mamba As also won the $85,000 final of an Indiana Sires Stakes at Hoosier Park in August and increased her lifetime bounty to $149,250 with this latest victory.

Racing resumes at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Thursday night (Oct. 4) with a 6:15 p.m. post time.
