Blossom Series gets underway

Double Creme [$6.40, $2.40, $2.60], shuffled back to last, made a stretch long charge and caught Heather’s Gambit [$2.20, $2.40] in the final 50 yards of the second race, the first of two $22,500 divisions of the Blossom Series.

Double Creme’s second straight victory was by two lengths in 1:54.2 on a rain-soaked track rated good.

Taxi Stand [$5.00] was third by two lengths.

Double Creme, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Richard Banca, picked up her fifth career win and boosted her earnings to $186,400 for the Nanny Stables of Staten Island, New York; Thomas Costanzo Jr. of Staten Island, New York; TLP Stables of Kearny, New Jersey and Joseph Fischetti of Staten Island, New York.

1-5 Rainbow Blue cruised to a four and a half length victory in 1:53.4 in the 2nd division of the Blossom Series.

In the second division, the third race, 1-5 Rainbow Blue [$2.60, $2.20, $2.10] cruised to a four and a half length victory in 1:53.4 in her season’s debut. Cannes Festival [$3.00, $2.10] was second and it was four and three-quarter lengths to Smashingpringipisa [$2.80] in third.

Rainbow Blue, driven by Ron Pierce and trained by George Teague Jr., now has seven wins in eight career starts and earnings of $113,924 for K&R Racing LLC and Teague Inc., both of Houston, Delaware.

The three-week Blossom Series for three-year-old pacing fillies continues next week with the final on April 24.
