Vernon, NY – Bluesville, driven by Ron Harp, won the $8,500 Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (July 25).
Rebellious (driven by Jimmy Whittemore) charged to the front from his outside post and led to the quarter in :27.2 and used a :30 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2. Natameri (Jacquavyian Carter) came first-up to challenge heading around the final turn. Rebellious was first to three quarters in 1:25.
As they entered the stretch, Bluesville found an opening between horses, blowing by second-place finisher Rebellious to win by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:52. Fasnacht Hanover (Rene Goulet) finished third.
Bluesville is a 7-year-old gelding by Huntsville. He is owned by Big Sky Ranch and trained by Harp. It was his fourth win this season and his 29th career victory. He paid $10.94 to win.
King Louie Lou (Frank Affrunti) won the Kenneth “Schultzie” Shultz Jr. Memorial Pace, paying $49.78 to win.
Bereaved Hanover (Chris Long) captured the Laura Rosenfeld D’Agostino Memorial Pace, paying $11.66 for the win.
