Book signing at Kentucky Futurity

Columbus, OH — Terry Motycka, author of a book about famous trotting sire Peter The Great, will be holding a book signing on Saturday, October 4, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at The Red Mile.

The book signing (which will be located outside the Red Mile clubhouse) was set up by Kit McKinley of Fennell’s Horse Supplies and Donna Bradford, Director of Operations at The Red Mile, and proceeds will go to the Stable of Memories.

Many of harness racing’s greatest stars today (such as Deweycheatumnhowe, Somebeachsomewhere and Donato Hanover) trace back to Peter The Great.

In addition to bringing books for the signing, Motycka also plans to have brochures about the Peter The Great Historical Society, which was recently formed in Kalamazoo, Mich. (his birthplace).

October 6 of this year will be the 110th anniversary of Peter The Great’s win in the 1898 Kentucky Futurity — the most prestigious race in the nation at that time for 3-year old trotters — which he won by an incredible 20 lengths, setting a world record in the process.
