Stockholm, SE — The Swedish Trotting Gala on Saturday evening in Stockholm was a major triumph for 34-year-old trainer Daniel Wäjersten from Bergsåker, who had seven nominations in total.
Wäjersten himself was named Trainer of the Year, while the stable’s top horse, Borups Victory, was honored as both Elder Trotter and Horse of the Year (HOY). Additionally, Wäjersten’s 3-year-old Bullet the Bluesky was named 3-year-old of the Year.
In the competition for horse of the year, trotting fans and Swedish harness racing journalists voted for the winner. Borups Victory received 51.4% of the votes, while stablemate Bullet the Bluesky secured 29.3%. The other contenders, Epic Kronos and Fame and Glory, garnered 11.3% and 8%, respectively.
The selection of winners in other categories at the gala was carried out by journalists.
During the event, Borups Victory was also invited to participate in the Elitlopp at Solvalla in May. Last year, the horse finished second behind the French champion Horsy Dream.
Notably, Magnus A. Djuse was named Driver of the Year for the third consecutive time.
