Bourbon St Hanover sets track record at Muskingum County (OH) Fair

by Regina Mayhugh, communications director, Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association

Columbus, OH — Sunday afternoon (Aug. 16) was a hot and steamy one at the Muskingum County (OH) fair when Bourbon St Hanover (Western Hanover-Bijou Hall) scorched the Zanesville track in a record time of 1:58.1, breaking the record from 1991, set by That’s Adam (Albus-Barbie T).

Bourbon St Hanover is trained by Jamie Coffy and was masterfully driven by Jeff Lieberman.

Another highlight of the afternoon was Chris Beaver continuing his dominance of the 2-year-old filly trot division in Ohio with Soft Power (Triumphant Caviar-Honey Thorn), winning the second division of the 2-year-old filly trot after bringing Also Known As Tc (Triumphant Caviar-Francie Dolly) to the winner’s circle earlier in the third race.

Dick McClelland was recognized by announcer Chris Patterson in the winner’s circle for Pinkman’s (Explosive Matter-Margie Seelster) explosive win at the Hambletonian earlier this month as well as for his generous support of horse racing at the Muskingum County Fair.

Racing continued on Monday (Aug. 17) afternoon for another lightning fast performance bringing a great show to fans. The 3-year-old trotting colt O What a Sam (Victory Sam-Steph’s Looker) opened up the races for the day with a win for trainer Ammon Hershberger with Jonas Hershberger in the sulky in 2:05.1. O What A Sam won for the 15th time in only 18 career starts. The Victory Sam gelding has dominated the 3-year-old colt trot division all summer long.

Next 2-year-old pacing colt Big Bad’s Shadow (Big Bad TJ-Jenna’s Bac N Town) broke his maiden in a fine effort, winning in 2:05.2 with Cameron McCown driving the colt to victory. Big Bad’s Shadow is trained by Terry Tackett.

Driver Marlin Smith concluded racing at the Muskingum County Fair winning the C.K.G. Billings Amateur in a masterful drive in 2:03.2 with Y F Crasher (Shilling-Daddy’s Porsche), also trained by Smith.

Thank you goes out to Tom Forker, speed Superintendent, and his crew for having a lightning fast track and putting on a great two-day show for the fans at the Muskingum County Fair.
