Boyd bags five at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Braxten Boyd drove five winners at Tioga Downs on Sunday (May 26).

Boyd had quite a weekend at Tioga Downs. A day after getting a grand slam, Boyd would win half of the matinee card on Sunday.

He started the day getting a natural grand slam by winning races two through five. He was first with Squadron Seelster ($15.80), Risky Lightning ($26.40), High Voltage Deo ($2.90), and Pine Bush Italiano ($3.00). He capped off his great day by winning race nine with Spy Craft ($2.50).

Slip The Hundy N (Mike Merton) took the $10,000 featured pace.

Slip The Hundy N ($4.40) grabbed the early lead but Colossal Stride A (Boyd) got by just before hitting the quarter first in :26.2. Slip The Hundy N went right back to the front as they went past the stands for the first time and led to the half in :56.3. He was in control to three-quarters in 1:24.2.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Colossal Stride A went all out in pursuit but Slip The Hundy N was too strong and won easily in 1:52.4. Feelin Western (Jim Taggart Jr.) finished third.

Slip The Hundy N is a 7-year-old gelding by Lincoln Royal. He is owned by Michael Casalino Jr. and trained by Rob Harmon. It was his fourth win this season. He now owns 19 career victories.
