Columbus, MN — Bringoverthemoney will try to register his sixth consecutive win on Sunday’s (May 14) season-opening program at Running Aces.
The 8-year-old son of Money Talks is the 3-1 morning line favorite in an $11,000 conditioned event and has drawn post one in the eight-horse contest. Dean Magee will be at the controls for owner Joshua Horvat and trainer Katie Horvat, who is also the breeder. Magee has been in the bike for all five of Bringoverthemoney’s most recent wins.

Bringoverthemoney, who is affectionately called “Scooby” by the Horvat family, is one of the most successful Minnesota-sired trotters to date. He has won 33 career races and has banked $288,911 so far. He was the state champion sophomore trotter in 2018, posting 11 wins that year. His most lucrative year to date was 2022, with $75,249 in earnings bolstered by a big win on Sept. 17, when he picked up his third straight Minnesota Night of Champions crown, which is where his current winning streak began. He also earned the 2022 title as the track’s older male trotter of the year.
Since that Sept. 17 win, he has racked up four additional wins at the Minnesota fairs, including a gate-to-wire score at Cannon Falls on April 29 to kick off his 2023 campaign. The mile in 2:06.2 on the track rated ‘slow’ was a decent clocking, his final quarter was an impressive :28.4, and he looked sharp and comfortable throughout that effort.
“We are just hoping for a good race on Sunday, and to get a check would be great,” Katie Horvat said. “He has some tough company in there.”
That company includes Minnesota Championship runner-up Scroll On By (Rick Magee, post seven, 6-1); 33-time winner Adagio De La Tour (Elson Miller, post five, 8-1), who competed in to-level events at Cal Expo through the winter; and Susie’s Sister (Todd Warren, post eight, 7-2), who debuts for trainer Jenni King after finishing third and fourth in two tries against Open company at Oak Grove.
“Spring has been a little rough this year,” Horvat continued. “The weather has been pretty rough, so training up was a bit challenging for this season.”
Regardless, the Horvats are thrilled to have a top contender for the upcoming meet — and having been able to raise him from day one has made the experience all the more rewarding.
“It has been a very fulfilling feeling to see a horse that was born on our farm turn out to be a successful racehorse,” Katie said. “You can tell when he is out there that he really enjoys his job.”
Bringoverthemoney will take to the track in the sixth race on a nine-race program at Running Aces. First post is 7 p.m. (CDT).
