Bucyrus matinee set for June 2

Bucyrus, OH — The Bucyrus Matinee Club will be hosting its annual harness racing matinee on June 2 with an 11 a.m. first post.

This event will be held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Bucyrus, Ohio (610 Whetstone Street).

We welcome all trainers to bring your horses for gate schooling with time bar classes. Classes will be 2:30-2:05 for each gait — trot and pace — with an entry fee of $25 per horse. Or if you are a young driver that wants to get some schooling behind the gate, you are welcome as well.

We do ask that trainers, when putting your horses in the box, put them in the class that they fit. There is a fine/donation of $50 to the matinee club if you break the time bar by more than three seconds. The judge working the event will watch that closely as the club feels it’s not right to the other horses entered in that class. If you’re a young driver, the same goes for you, make sure you can hold the horse you’re driving in that time class.

There will be a food truck on the backside along with raffles and programs for sale. The public is welcome as the grandstands will be open and Ayers Ratliff will be calling the races for the matinee program.

All horsemen and women shipping in, we ask that you please use the shedrow stalls.

All entries will be taken by phone or text at 419.569.7008 (if text, list gait, sex, class and trainer/driver).
