Hightstown, NJ – Ron Burke won three races on Monday (Nov. 10) to surpass 1,000 training victories in a year for the sixth time of his Hall of Fame career.
Burke entered Monday with 998 wins this season. He picked up a victory with Oakwood Dynasty IR at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania before adding two more triumphs at MGM Northfield Park, with Warraweeforlaura and Midwind Beach Boy, to finish the day with 1,001.
No other trainer in history has won more than 663 races in a single year. Burke set the record for victories in 2023, with 1,156, and also enjoyed 1,000-win campaigns in 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2022.
Last week, Burke broke the single-season record for training purses. Burke has nearly $28.7 million in purses this year, bettering his own previous mark of $28.4 million in 2014.
