Buyer’s market at Swedish yearling sale

The annual Menhammar Summer Sale was held Sunday (July 9) as an internet sale, and compared to the sale last year, the average price dropped no less than 56 percent.

However, it must be noted that the sale last year only had 37 yearlings sold; this year 59 sold. The average price this year was $16,900.

The top price, $90,000, was paid for Hola Que Tal, a colt sired by Fourth Dimension and out of Aria (sired by Chocolatier). Fourth Dimension (sired by Chapter Seven) has had a flying start at stud with his first crop, which now are 3-year-olds.

Second highest price was paid for a colt, Home Place, sired by Face Time Bourbon, who sold for $60,000.

Also among the top sellers were: Hit or Miss – colt by Nuncio – sold for $55,000; Hitting Hard – colt by Walner – sold for $48,000; Happy Pride – colt by Greenshoe – sold for $44,000; and Having it Removed – filly by Tactical Landing – sold for $39,000.
