Cantab Hall first-timers sweep Meadows series splits

Washington, PA – Cantab’s Joy and Come And Tab Me, two daughters of Cantab Hall making their career debuts, each one a $10,000 second-leg division of Friday’s Pop Up Series for freshman filly trotters at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Cantab’s Joy (#4) came from three lengths back in the stretch to beat the 1-9 favorite, Pizzelle, and paid $28.60 to win Friday at The Meadows. Chris Gooden Photos.

Cantab’s Joy was unimpressive in two qualifiers, but she outperformed her 13-1 odds by erasing a three-length deficit in the stretch to down 1-9 favorite Pizzelle by 3/4 lengths in 2:01.2. Southwind Cinder finished third. Jeremy Indof drove for trainer Todd Luther and owner Greg Luther Racing LLC.

Come And Tab Me, on the other hand, sparkled in her two qualifiers, and it showed in her 2-5 odds. She moved first up near the three-quarters for Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. and defeated Noelle’s Alibi by 3/4 lengths in 1:59.2. Winnie Werewolf completed the ticket. Chris Beaver conditions the winner for Kemppi Stables OY Inc. and Suojalampi Stable Inc.

Wrenn collected four wins and Dave Palone three on the 12-race card.

Saturday’s (July 14) 12-race program features a $665.94 carryover in the Pick-5 (race eight). First post is 12:45 p.m.
