Hightstown, NJ — Captain Albano, who won last week’s Matron Stakes for 3-year-old male pacers, made the only move in the Week 22 Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll’s Top 10, rising from sixth to fifth in a swap of positions with Sig Sauer.
Twin B Joe Fresh was No. 1 for the 18th consecutive week, followed by the retired Jiggy Jog S and Kindergarten Classic Series male trotting champ Maryland to complete the top three.
The only other horse in the Top 10 in action last week was My Girl EJ, who finished third in the Matron Stakes for 3-year-old female pacers. She remained ninth in the rankings but dropped 23 points from a week ago.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, which will be released every Tuesday through the remainder of the Grand Circuit season, does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
