Columbus, OH — Carl Stephen “Steve” Wagoner, 67, of Arcola, Ill., passed away on Dec. 23 at Advent Health Hospital in DeLand, Fla.

Mr. Wagoner was born on February 10, 1955 in Decatur, Ill. He was a son of Carl Herman and Elsie Elizabeth “Betty” (Hammond) Wagoner.

Mr. Wagoner, who worked as a truck driver for many years, maintained a small stable from the late 1980s through 2013, harnessing the winners of 48 races. He enjoyed telling stories, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Wagoner is survived by his three children, Steven (Marcia), Brian, and Cherin (Steve) Whitaker; grandchildren, Gracie, Makenna, Andrew and Gunner; sister, Sandy (Mike) Arthur; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol Fidler and Joyce Good; brothers, Terry, David and Richard; nephew, Chad Fidler; and great-nephew, Zachary.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Dec. 31) at 12 noon at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, Ill. Burial will follow in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the funeral home.
