Manalapan, NJ — Hall of Fame driver Cat Manzi, who suffered a fractured pelvis in a racing accident at Freehold Raceway on Sept. 6, is being released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune today and moved to an acute rehab facility in Brick, N.J.

According to Ellen Manzi, Cat’s wife, he suffered four fractures of his pelvis.

“Three of them are on the left side; one of them involves his hip,” she said.

Jeff Gregory, 47, who was also in the multi-horse pileup, was released from Freehold’s CentraState Medical Center on Sunday. He shattered his left elbow and underwent surgery the day of the spill. He is home in East Windsor, N.J., recuperating.

Manzi, 63, is the third highest all-time winningest driver in North American harness racing history with 14,789 career victories.

“Cat is now able to respond to phone calls and text messages, but will not have much time for visitors while he is in rehab,” said Ellen Manzi. “They’re going to keep him pretty busy, and that is good.”
