Sergeant York, a Standardbred who served for 25 years as an equine member of the United States Army’s Caisson Platoon, died Jan. 1, 2026, at the age of 35.
Illinois Department of Agriculture nomination due date changes:
The nomination payment for the Cardinal/Violet for 3-year-olds will be delayed until March 16 (March 15 is a Sunday.) In addition, due to county fairs starting on May 24, the supplement date to make horses eligible to county fairs has been moved to May 1 (originally May 15.)
