Once again Pompano makes morning line history
A few seasons ago, Pompano Park made morning line history when all six entrants in a race were pegged at 7-2. The track will feature another historical morning line event on Tuesday night (Feb. 5) with the line for each race created by the drivers themselves.
Bilibili sets world record under saddle
For the third time in a row, Bilibili with Alexandre Abrivard won the Prix de l’Ile de France, a Group I under saddle race, at Vincennes Sunday afternoon (Feb. 2) and was timed in a new world record 1.52.3 (mile rate). A 9-year old French trotter, Bilibili is under saddle specialist. In fact, all his lifetime earnings of more than $2 million were won in under saddle races.

Bettor Memories (Eric Goodell, $21) did it the hard way Saturday night (Feb. 1), winning Yonkers Raceway’s $35,000 Preferred Handicap Pace with a first-up foray.
Betting tops $3 million at Big M
The action at The Meadowlands has heated up in a big way of late, and the trend continued Saturday night (Feb. 1). Wagering on the 13-race card pushed past the $3-million mark for the second time this year as $3,026,740 was put in play. The other time betting went past the magic $3-million mark was on Jan. 3, when $3,069,967 was pushed through the windows.
2019 O’Brien Award winners announced; Moreau and Blais big winners
On Saturday (Feb. 1), Standardbred Canada announced the winners for the 2019 O’Brien Award at the 31st edition of the annual O’Brien Awards Black Tie Gala held at the Hilton Mississauga / Meadowvale hotel in Mississauga. The O’Brien Awards honor Canada’s best in harness racing over the past season and are named in honor of the late Joe O’Brien, an outstanding horseman and member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
Windsong Leo racing ‘super’ at Miami Valley
If either the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers perform as well as Windsong Leo has been lately at Miami Valley Raceway they should have no problem trouncing their adversary in the Super Bowl. Windsong Leo, who won 15 races in 30 starts in 2019, is undefeated in four 2020 starts—all in Open Handicap contests where he has been assigned an outside post.
