Last call for Caretaker of Year Nominations
With a deadline of Friday, Dec. 20, there are only a few days left to submit nominations for the 2019 Caretaker of the Year. The award, sponsored by Fair Island Farm in conjunction with the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA), recognizes the unsung heroes of the sport—the caretakers who maintain the health and welfare of the horses on a daily basis.
Record Pick-4 pool at Pompano Tuesday
With a carryover of almost $16,000 in Pompano Park’s Pick-4 going into the Tuesday night (Dec. 17) program, a $75,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low 12% takeout, interest spanned throughout North America with a record pool of $102,666 being the final total for the track’s “Send It In” feature wager.

That amount was carried over from Tuesday (Dec. 16) when the Super Hi-5 could not be offered after a scratch reduced the field below the minimum number of wagering interests required. Tony Hall gets career win 6,000, Latest Desire shocks feature at The Meadows
Tony Hall collected career win 6,000 Tuesday at The Meadows when he piloted Blooming Sunflower to victory in the ninth race. Hall reached the milestone with three Tuesday wins, all for trainer Cory Kreiser. Also on the afternoon, Latest Desire pulled a massive 23/1 upset in the $12,500 second leg of the Holiday Series.
