Yonkers Raceway has announced its 2020 live schedule, pending approval of the New York State Gaming Commission. The 237-program docket begins Monday night (Jan. 6) and encompasses the usual five nights per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) throughout the bulk of the season.

The California Sires Stakes is still accepting yearling nominations for foals of 2018. The 2018 foals from stallions in the DHA program from the states of California, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine and Alberta in Canada may still nominate until Dec. 31 for $300.

James Caradori to receive Good Guy award from UNY USHWA
James Carll Caradori has been in the harness racing business since 1968 and during his 51 years of participation has been very successful as an owner. However, beyond that, he has always been an ambassador for the sport and his decades of dedication is the reason the Upstate New York Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association will honor him with the 2019 Good Guy award during the Night of Distinction at Batavia Downs on Saturday night (Dec. 14).
Joseph Beszczynski Jr., 89, dies
Joseph “Joe” Beszczynski Jr., 89, of Darien Center, N.Y., died Nov. 29, 2019, after a long illness. Mr. Beszczynski was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Anna (Krawczyk) Beszczynski Sr.
