A pair of $12,000 conditioned events for trotters were contested at Plainridge Park on Friday afternoon (Nov. 22) and it was girl power all around as 3-year-old fillies Lindy Pearl and Crystalline were much the best in their respective divisions despite weather that continued to decline as the day went on.
“Sky” Walker springs 18-1 upset in $25,000 Billings Midwestern final at The Meadows
Parked the opening five-eighths following an unruly pre-race performance, Keystone Blade nevertheless found more for Kelly “Sky” Walker and sprang an 18-1 upset in Friday’s (Nov. 22) $25,000 Midwestern championship of the C.K.G. Billings Amateur Trot at The Meadows. The event, styled as the Delvin Miller Memorial Gold Cup, was contested at 1-1/4 miles over a “good” surface.
Tetrick celebrates his birthday with six winners at Harrah’s Philadelphia
The only thing hotter than the 38 candles on Tim Tetrick’s birthday cake on Friday (Nov. 22) was his continued scorching form in the sulky at Harrah’s Philadelphia, where he guided six more winners, including She’s Allright in 1:52.4 while taking the $17,000 distaff pacing feature.
Amended draw schedule for Harrah’s Philadelphia
Horsemen are advised of an amended draw schedule for the upcoming week of racing at Harrah’s Philadelphia. To accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday, the draws for the cards of racing to be held next Friday (Nov. 29) and Sunday (Dec. 1) will take place one day earlier than usual, while the draws for the Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 programs will take place one day later than usual.
‘Everything appears to be back in order’ for Shartin N heading into TVG Mare Pace
Prior to second-place finishes in October’s Allerage and Breeders Crown events for mare pacers, Shartin N had never lost consecutive starts during her North American racing career, a span of 39 races. So, trainer Jim King Jr. breathed a little easier when Shartin N snapped that skid with a win in last week’s invitational for fillies and mares at Dover Downs. The 6-year-old mare, who was slowed by sickness in September, won by 2-1/4 lengths over Kissin In The Sand in 1:49.4. Shartin N races Saturday in the $175,000 TVG Mare Pace championship at The Meadowlands, where she is the 9-5 morning-line favorite in a field that includes Allerage and Breeders Crown winner Caviart Ally as well as 3-year-old standout Warrawee Ubeaut.
