Ideal Jimmy and Western Fame have raced with distinction throughout the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series. Saturday night (April 13) was no exception. The tandem were advertised, each handily winning its respective Yonkers Raceway event. All told, four, $50,000 Free-For-All forays were carded. The other two winners were The Downtown Bus and Bettor Memories.

Hudson Phil takes Saratoga feature
Hudson Phil (Shanghai Phil) returned to Saratoga Casino Hotel on Saturday night (April 13) to compete in the $15,000 Open Pace. The Jackie Greene trainee won his previous local start which took place last month, but was a beaten favorite earlier in the week while competing at Plainridge Park in Massachusetts.

There was a racing rarity at Cal Expo Friday evening (April 12) as 14-year-old pacers Allamerican Solo and Blue Note accounted for the late double on the 11-race program.

Stars shine in qualifying efforts at Meadowlands
Many of the sport’s stars assembled at The Meadowlands for qualifiers on an overcast, windless Saturday morning (April 13) on a track that may have been slightly dulled by overnight rains. Impressive winners included defending Dan Patch Award-winners Warrawee Ubeaut and Kissin In The Sand with 2017 Little Brown Jug winner Filibuster Hanover, world champion Ice Attraction and 2018 Yonkers International Trot victor, Cruzado Dela Noche, joining them.
SRF open event on May 18
The Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) invites all to a great few hours of sheer enjoyment. This event will allow attendees to meet the new foal born to SRF, taste Craft Beer, and Wine and meet 65 of its adoptable horses. The Meet and Greet on Saturday (May 18) from 3 pm to 5 pm is at 42 Arneytown-Hornerstown Rd., Cream Ridge, N.J., where the farm is located.
Watson dreaming of Levy final with Lyons Steel
Dennis Watson isn’t getting much sleep these days. His George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series contender Lyons Steel is 12th in the standings before the last preliminary leg on Saturday night (April 13). A victory in the last leg would likely earn him a spot in the estimated $660,000 final April 20. It would be the biggest race of Watson’s training career.
