Edward R. Rohr III, 72, lovingly known to all as ‘Bamps’, passed away peacefully on Monday (March 18), at the Gosnell Hospice House after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at his side during his final days.

Supergill, who won the 1987 Peter Haughton Memorial and later became a respected and successful stallion, died March 16 in Italy at the age of 34. His death was first reported on Sweden’s SulkySport website.

The Tuesday (March 19) matinee at Miami Valley Raceway featured both trotters and pacers in Lebanon Legends late-closing series action. Three divisions of the first leg of the Dr. Dan Farwick Memorial trot for non-winners of six races or $60,000 went to post, as did a trio of first-leg divisions of the Omar Hiteman Memorial featuring male pacers that have not won two races or $20,000.

Foiled Again, the richest Standardbred racehorse of all time with $7,635,588 and now retired from the racetrack, caused a sensation at the recent Dan Patch Awards Banquet in Orlando, FL when the now 15-year-old actually showed up at the fancy dinner to “accept” the Stan Bergstein Proximity Award he was voted by the U.S. Harness Writers Association for outstanding contributions to the sport.
