McCarthy enjoys milestone ahead of Captain Albano’s return
Time has seemed to pass quickly for Todd McCarthy since his arrival in the U.S. in the late summer of 2020, but he’s certainly made the most of it. He has been a Rising Star Award recipient, captured a Hambletonian, North America Cup and Breeders Crown, sat behind at least one Dan Patch Award winner every season, and, just this past weekend, notched his 1,000th victory in North America.
Spring Sires Stakes champions crowned at Rosecroft
John Wagner and Richard Hans have been dominant trainers in the Maryland Sires Stakes program in recent years. That trend continued for both Tuesday night (May 14) at Rosecroft, as Wagner trainees Geralds A Keeper and KJ Dash took the top two spots in the $87,500 colt and gelding trot for 3-year-olds.

Massachusetts champ Keep Asking comes home for Battle of Bunker Hill Trot
The Grand Circuit returns to Plainridge Park on Thursday (May 16) featuring the $100,000 Battle of Bunker Hill Trot for 3-year-olds. Six have entered the race, but one of the key players is a hometown hero, born and raised. Keep Asking was foaled in Rochester, Mass., in April 2021 and was destined for dual stakes eligibility, a result of Massachusetts’ resident mare program. And the colt took full advantage of all his opportunities during a freshman year that ended with him becoming a Massachusetts Sire Stakes champion.
Great Seats scores redemption in Oak Grove feature
After having wins snatched from him in his last two tries at the class, Great Seats returned from a stint in the Kentucky Sire Stakes to go a no-holds-barred 1:51.4 mile in the featured $15,000 conditioned pace at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel on Tuesday (May 14).

Don’tmesswithles and Tennessee Smooth emerged victorious in the twin $16,000 featured paces for developing horses on Tuesday afternoon (May 14) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
