Things are starting to heat up at The Meadowlands, and what better way to kick off the 14-week Championship Meet on Saturday (May 4) than with the top simulcast event in all of horse racing serving as a prelude to the beginning of the harness stakes season with the opening leg of New Jersey Sire Stakes action.

The Meadowlands is reminding all drivers who intend to participate in the 2024 “Championship Meet” which begins on Friday (May 3) that they must seek approval to drive.

Shenandoah Downs will host a “Derby at the Downs” celebration on Saturday (May 4) where fans can wager on live afternoon harness racing in conjunction with simulcast races from Churchill Downs including the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Buffalo Raceway is midway through its 2024 season with live harness racing three days a week, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2:30 p.m. first post and Saturdays at 6 p.m. first post.

As a convenience for the wagering public, the Meadowlands Racetrack will offer a walk-up teller window on both Friday (May 3) and Saturday (May 4) for Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby days.

With horse racing’s Kentucky Derby taking center stage in the national spotlight this weekend, Cumberland Raceway will offer both live harness racing on Friday (May 3) and Saturday (May 4), along with coverage of two of the biggest days on the Thoroughbred Triple Crown calendar.

The best place to watch and wager on Saturday’s (May 4) 150th Kentucky Derby in the state is MGM Northfield Park. With contests, a food truck festival, and bands, the northeast Ohio facility has plenty to offer.
