The Cattlewash Syndicate and Tara Hills Stud are pleased to announce the 2024 book for the world champion Cattlewash is now full and closed.
After breeding a small book of mares while still racing at age 4, the fastest stallion sired by Somebeachsomewhere bred 178 mares in each of the past two years, leading all Standardbred stallions standing in North America. In 2024, he has once again been extremely popular with breeders.
A multiple stakes winner at 2, 3 and 4, Cattlewash earned over $1.3 million while facing arguably the toughest group of pacers ever assembled each year he raced. Cattlewash has impressed horsemen and breeders alike with his outstanding good looks, kind disposition and extreme fertility. Knowledgeable horsemen have noted Cattlewash is the mirror image of his sire Somebeachsomewhere, resembling him more than any of his other sons.
His first crop of 38 New Jersey eligible 2-year-olds are now in training and are impressing their trainers with their athleticism, intelligence and gait.
“We continue to be truly overwhelmed by the reception Cattlewash has received here in Ontario,” said Tara Hills’ Dave Heffering. “His first Ontario foals were welcomed in 2023 by breeders who have generally been very impressed by their size and good looks. There’s a lot of excitement and anticipation for his oldest foals to hit the racetracks this summer and his first Ontario yearlings to sell this fall.”
