Cisco Hall and Ron Pierce win the Final of the Kentucky Sires Stakes.
Cisco Hall, owned by Christina Takter, John Fielding, Kenneth Ross, and Nancy Takter-Johannson, took command when Ron Pierce steered him to the front after the quarter, and led the remainder of the way, crossing the wire a length clear of the field in 1:58.
The victory was the fourth in seven starts for the Conway Hall colt, who had gone down to defeat as a 1-20 favorite in his elimination leg. Oatmeister, who had defeated Cisco Hall in that event, finished third after a first-over trip, but was moved up to second when it was ruled that Garth Vader, the original second place finisher, had impeded him in the stretch.
It’s not often that a driver’s career begins with two consecutive wins, but that’s the case with Linda Hegstrom. The 24-year-old New Jersey resident, originally from Hudiksvall, Sweden, piloted Sir Perserverence to his second consecutive victory.
The Self Possessed two-year-old is also two-for-two, and the pair continued their pursuit of perfection by scoring an impressive win on Friday over an early closing trotting field.
