Ciuffetelli wins AHDC trot at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The AHDC amateur drivers hit the red clay at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono for another Sunday (July 25) showdown and crossing the wire just before the heavy rain came down was Inaperfectworld, guided by his owner, Tony Ciuffetelli, in a strong 1:57.4 mile.

When the gate sprung there were more than a few horses vying for the lead, but it was Inaperfectworld who sprinted fastest to the top and in doing so opened up a nice hole for Life Well Lived and Tony Beltrami. The favorite Lucky June Bug, with Robert Krivelin steering, also took a shot at leaving but was forced to take back to fourth as French Moni and Paul Minore quickly closed up the three hole.

The leader cruised by the quarter in :29.1 and by seating all contenders early, Ciuffetelli was able to rate a tepid :59.3 half-mile clocking. Sensing the slow pace, Minore rushed French Moni to the outside, but that was just when Ciuffetelli put his charge into high gear and the outer flow was stalled.

Turning for home, Life Well Lived was the only horse with a chance to best the well rated front runner, but it was not to be as Inaperfectworld trotted home strong to win by three lengths. Life Well Lived did hold on for second. Silvermass Volo and Maria de Bruijn came wide and made a strong charge through the stretch to pass Call Me Thefireman, who had scooted up the rail, for the show money.

In what was the best bet race of the Sunday card at Pocono, Inaperfectworld notched his third victory of the year and for owner/driver Tony Ciuffetelli, it was win number eight in 2021.

The AHDC will return again next Sunday as the drivers try to amass points in order to qualify for the final of the Summer Series scheduled for Sunday (Aug. 29).
