Clearfield County Fair meet concludes

The four-day meet at the Clearfield County Fair wrapped up on Thursday, August 2, with nine Pennsylvania Sires Stake events for freshmen.

DNJ’s Merry Dancer opened the card with her first Sires Stake win of the year, a 2:09.4 victory in the first division of the 2-year-old trot. A daughter of Wonder Dancer, DNJ’s Merry Dancer scored for owners Ellen Warren and Doris Copp. The filly is trained by Eileen Lineweaver, and was driven by Winston Lineweaver.

KT Attitude won the second split, the first of a pair of wins on the day for trainer Ken Weaver and driver Eddie McNeight. The Sierra Kosmos offspring trotted in 2:12 to post the win for owner Weaver.

A third frosh filly trot was won by Tuscaroragit-r-dun, an invader from New York for owner Sara Clouser and trainer/driver Brad Clouser. The Keystone Strike filly trotted in 2:10.3.

Up next were two splits of the freshman colt trot for state-breds, won by RT Dandy Lion (Ebanks) and KT Me Me (SJ’s Caviar).

RT Dandy Lion scored in 2:10.2 for owner Harold Brocious and trainer/driver Robert Rougeaux. KT Me Me was a 2:09.4 victor for the McNeight/Weaver combination. Weaver co-owns the colt with Wayne Shaffer.

In the freshman filly pace, DVC Elegant Beauty and Tea Room Artist were victorious for drivers Dave Brickell and Joe Offutt, respectively.

DVC Elegant Beauty, a daughter of Quentin Hanover, was timed in 2:03.3 for owner/trainer/driver Brickell, while Tea Room Artist (Real Artist) won in 2:02.1 for owners Joe and Chris Offutt.

Brickell returned to the winner’s circle in the first division of the 2-year-old colt pace, with SB Quents Knight, another Quentin Hanover offspring. The gelding won in 2:04.4.

The day’s final race, the second frosh colt pace, was won by RT Coolart and Rougeaux. It was the second win of the day for Rougueax and owner Brocious. The final time was 2:05.

Racing on the PA Fair Circuit now moves on to two venues at the same time next week, with racing in the eastern part of the state at Honesdale (Wayne County), and Waynesburg (Greene County) on the western side. Both fairs race Tuesday through Thursday.
