Washington, PA – Corwyn M. Greene, 77, of Houston, PA, died Thursday (Dec. 28), following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 23, 1946 in Decatur, IL, a son of the late John B. and Margaret E. (Cooper) Greene.
Corwyn graduated from Maroa-Forsyth High School in Maroa, IL in 1964. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Berlin, Germany from December 1970 to March 1972. While in Berlin, Corwyn discovered what became his lifelong passion for golf.
Corwyn’s entire career was spent in the harness racing industry and from 1980 until his retirement in 2010, he was Track Superintendent at The Meadows Racetrack in Washington, PA. In addition to harness racing and golf, Corwyn loved the outdoors, specifically the many years enjoyed at the family camp in Tidioute, PA.
On June 21, 1981, Corwyn married SandiePenvose Greene, who preceded him in death on August 17, 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Greene of Carnegie, PA; his son, Ryan (Korey) Greene of Oakdale, PA; and his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Kenny) Frameli of Rices Landing, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, Corwyn was preceded in death by his brother, Curt B. Greene; and his father- and mother-in-law, Norman and Mary Ann Penvose.
At Corwyn’s request, no services will be held. A dinner celebrating his life will be held this spring. Memorial donations may be made in Corwyn’s name to the Washington County Humane Society (www.washingtonpashelter.org).
