Cowgirl Hanover romps in NYSS at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Cowgirl Hanover dominated her competition in today’s $108,200 New York Sires Stake (NYSS) at Tioga Downs for 2-year-old pacing fillies in a geared down 1:54.1 romp.

Cowgirl Hanover was impressive during New York Sire Stakes Action on Sunday. Fred Brown Photo.

Driver Jason Bartlett let the filly drift away from post five as the gate pulled away, confident that Cowgirl Hanover would find a tuck as the heavy 1-2 favorite, and he was correct.

The pair sat fourth as the Ray Schnittker trained entry of Bronx Mixer and Send It Down Slim (Mark Macdonald) lined up one-two with Ray setting the early pace and stealing a slow second quarter to pass the half in :57.3.
As they set sail up the back, Jordan Stratton sent She’s A Streaker up to engage the leader with Cowgirl Hanover enjoying a sweet ride along behind that rival until her cover abruptly stalled, forcing Bartlett to quickly shift the winner into the three path, which she handled like a pro, looped the competition and was gone in the blink of an eye.
Through the stretch, Bartlett was looking for things to do as Cowgirl Hanover continued on to the win, the official margin of three lengths could just as easily have been ten.
Send It Down Slim had good energy late once Macdonald shook her loose from behind her tiring stablemate and The Last Martini (Greg Merton) rallied for third.
Now unbeaten in four NYSS starts, Cowgirl Hanover is a daughter of Huntsville, trained by Jared Bako for owner Bob DiNozzi as NY Seb, INC.
Mom’s Point, Love Trouble, Hint Of Spring and Fansville were all NY Excelsior winners on the undercard.
