Ferrari Kievitshof, a 3-year-old trotter sired by Credit Winner and out of Shes Got It All (by Balanced Image), was an easy winner of the Deutsches Traber Derby raced Sunday afternoon (Aug. 2) at the historic Mariendorf track in Berlin.

Dutch-trained Ferrari Kievitshof went into the race as the handicappers’ second choice, but as the favorite, Cash Hanover driven by Thorsten Tietz, made a break with less half a mile to go. Ferrari Kievitshof, driven by Robin Bakker, went on to win the Derby (1- 3/16th mile distance) very easily in a new race record of 1:57 (mile rate).

The purse for the winner was $117,500.

Ferrari Kievitshof is now six for six and has turned out to be a bargain, as he was sold for $40,000 at the Derby sale in 2013.

This was the tenth victory in the German Trotting Derby since 2000 for a Dutch trained trotter. Paul Hagoort has trained three winners and Robin Bakker has piloted two to Derby glory.
