Dan Patch eliminations highlight big Sunday card at Running Aces

Columbus, MN — The Sunday night (July 21) program at Running Aces will feature two $20,000 elimination splits to the 2024 Dan Patch FFA pace as part of a twelve-race program.

The first elimination division goes as race seven and features last year’s Dan Patch FFA champion He’zzz A Wise Sky (Yankee Skyscraper), who has been tabbed as the 9-5 morning line favorite from post four in the six-horse contest. Dean Magee will be the pilot for trainer John Filomeno. The 7-year-old stallion shows 4 wins from 16 outings this season and boasts 52 career wins with earnings of $742,379.

In the 2023 edition, He’zzz A Wise Sky prevailed by a neck over Crooked Smile in a thrilling photo finish in 1:50.1.

The second choice on the morning line in the first division is PD The Big Easy (James Kennedy, 2-1) who will start from the inside post and shows 4 local wins from 9 local starts this year for trainer Bob Johnson.

Mac’s Marvel (Luke Plano, 5-2) has been given strong consideration on the early line as well, He shows 3 local wins from 8 local tries this year and last year posted his career best win (1:50.2) at Aces.

Rounding out the field for the first elimination are Speaking Volumes (Jeff Hunt, 6-1), Ynotthishos (Nick Roland,8-1) and Topville Rocknluck (Todd Warren, 15-1).

The second division goes in race eight which will kick off the 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot wager which currently has a carryover of $9,401.08.

Tuggin On My Heart (Rockin Amadeus) has been tabbed as the 2-1 morning line choice in the second group and comes into the contest with three consecutive wins in the top Aces Open and shows 8 wins on the season. He has drawn post five and will have the services of driver Jacob Cutting for trainer Edwin Quevedo.

Aces newcomer Muskateer Hanover (Brady Jenson, 5-2) is the second choice and will start from post two, he has recently been competing at Oak Grove and shows 5 wins and eleven seconds from 23 starts this year, with impressive earnings of $148,835. Jenson is also the local trainer.

Crooked Smile (Warren, 3-1) is the third choice on the line and starts from post six. He was second to Tuggin On My Heart in his most recent outing and shows two wins on the season from Hoosier Park. He was second by a neck in last year’s Dan Patch FFA. He is trained by Tim Wilson Jr. along with assistant Jenni De Menge.

Completing the field of six for the second division are No Lou Zing (Mooney Svendsen, 7-2), Motley Ray (James Yoder, 8-1) and Caviart Camden (Rick Magee, 10-1).

The top four finishers from each elimination split as well as the fastest fifth place finisher will advance to the $50,000 Dan Patch FFA final on Sunday (July 28).
