Day To Party, Whitecookie take Meadows co-features; Palone wins 5

Washington, PA — Day To Party passed up an early seat, powered to the lead, and scored easily in Wednesday’s (March 27) co-feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 conditioned pace for fillies and mares.

Day To Party had a chance to secure the pocket behind early leader Hillbilly Kisses, but Dave Palone had other ideas. He moved her to the point before the quarter, and the 5-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Day To Ponder found the front end to her liking. Day To Party opened a four-length lead before gearing down to defeat Yippie Hanover by two lengths in 1:52.2, matching her career best. Vicky Everyday completed the ticket.

In Wednesday’s companion feature, a $12,500 conditioned pace, Whitecookie overwhelmed the field with a first-over move and triumphed by five lengths in 1:50.4 for Palone, trainer Michael Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The 7-year-old Windfall Blue Chip-Teamtress gelding pushed his career earnings to $342,439.

Palone collected five wins and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. three on the 13-race card.

For the first time since the introduction of the wager early this month, the Lucky7 was hit, returning $2,550. Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (March 28) with a 14-race program getting underway at 12:45 p.m.
