Nichols, NY — De La Hoya Hanover (Jim Pantaleano) captured the featured $15,000 Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 27).
Stonebridge Reef (Tyler Miller) led to the quarter in :26.2. Intimidation (Ridge Warren) slid through and took a short lead with a lap to go. The two battled all the way to the half with Intimidation getting there first in :53.3. Stonebridge Reef then reclaimed the lead down the backstretch and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.
As they made the turn for home second place finisher Vadiemen Blue Chip (Braxten Boyd) took over the lead. De La Hoya Hanover ($42.80) came flying down the lane like he was shot out of a cannon and got the win in 1:51. Livonjaxandqueens (Mike Merton) finished third.
De La Hoya Hanover is a 4-year-old gelding by Stay Hungry. He is owned by Jennifer Bongiorno Stable and Barbara Bongiorno Stable while being trained by Joe Bongiorno. It was his third win of the season. He now owns 12 career victories.
Ridge Warren and Tyler Miller each drove three winners on the card. Jeff Cullipher had a training double.
