Hicksville, OH — The Defiance County Area Horsemen’s Association is sponsoring two late closers to commemorate deceased “fixtures” of the Hicksville, Ohio, fairgrounds track.

The Chuck Peter Memorial will be raced for 2-year-old trotters and the Jay and Helen Volkert Memorial will feature 2-year-old pacers. These races will be “open to the world” and will require a $50 nomination fee by August 1, 2011. Starting fees will be $75 for a purse of $2,000, with entries added.

Forms will be made available soon at area fairs and tracks.
