Vernon, NY — Dewey Arnold (Ron Harp) captured the featured $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 17).
Century Invader (Leon Bailey) and Dewey Arnold ($3) battled all the way to the quarter. Dewey Arnold got there first in :28. He led to half in :57, and showed the way to three-quarters in 1:25.4.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Century Invader and third place finisher Joxter (Dan Daley) came all out after the lead but Dewey Arnold had plenty in the tank and won in 1:56.
Dewey Arnold is a 7-year-old gelding by Deweycheatumnhowe. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his fourth win this season. He now has 39 career victories.
Joe Nassimos and Dylan Huckabone-Miller had driving-training doubles. Justin Huckabone had a driving double.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (May 23) with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
