Diamond Creek reveals stallion plan for homebred Confederate

Lexington, KY — Fresh off the thrills of a Breeders Crown victory, Diamond Creek has announced that Confederate will be standing in 2024 in Pennsylvania.

Confederate is a Diamond Creek homebred Sweet Lou colt out of Geothermal. His Breeders Crown win has sent his earnings over $1.98 million. At age 2, he swept the Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series before winning his Breeders Crown elimination and finishing second in the final. At 3, he has been victorious in 12 of 13 starts to date, including wins in the Meadowlands Pace, Cane Pace, Max Hempt Memorial, North American Cup elim, Bluegrass Series, Tattersalls Pace and Breeders Crown. He smashed the world record for a 3-year-old pacing colt during a KYSS leg in 1:46.1 at the Red Mile. Confederate‘s remaining racing schedule includes supplementing to the Matron Stakes at Dover and the $350,000 FanDuel Championship at the Meadowlands.

Confederate will be remembered as an all-time favorite to train,” said trainer Brett Pelling. “His abilities are unquestionable, but his willingness to compete and to continue to accomplish what he has … that gives me the utmost admiration for him. He will be missed.”

Confederate‘s maternal family includes Western Montana, a foundation mare for Diamond Creek and the dam of champion Pure Country (1:48, $2,438,619), Charleston (1:49.4, $775,847), Grand Teton (1:48.1, $564,639) and Arson (1:50.4, $135,250).

“This is the best horse we’ve ever had, ” said Diamond Creek’s Adam Bowden. “A Breeders Crown win is just a testament to his pure speed and ability. Confederate is the culmination of everything we have been striving towards as breeders.”

The front-runner for 2023 Horse of The Year will be syndicated and stand in Pennsylvania for a stud fee of $20,000, live foal.
