Vernon, NY — Dizzy Lizzy and trainer-driver Ron Harp captured the $6,500 featured fillies and mares pace at Vernon Downs on Thursday (July 10).
Escape The House (Shawn McDonough) blazed to a first quarter of :25.4. Made Of Misschief (John MacDonald) then took command and led to the half in :55.1. Dizzy Lizzy ($7.30) made her move going first-over around the final turn. Made Of Misschief was first to three-quarters in 1:24.
Dizzy Lizzy surged to the front as they reached the stretch. Second-place finisher Abuelita Hanover (Chris Long) made a late bid but fell short as Dizzy Lizzy won in a lifetime best of 1:52.3. Ideal Entry (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.

Dizzy Lizzy is a 4-year-old mare by So Surreal owned by Nicholas Gibides and Diane and Venitia Harp. It was her second win this season. She now has nine career victories.
Eight different trainers and drivers won one race apiece on the card.
