At 9-years-old, the Swedish trotter Don Fanucci Zet is still on top as was demonstrated on Tuesday evening (July 29) at the Jägersro track in Malmö, where he won the Hugo Aabergs Memorial with ease in 1:51.4f – even though he had to trot three wide in two turns.
Don Fanucci Zet, sired by Hard Livin (by SJ’s Caviar) and out of the pacer Kissed by the West (by Western Terror), has now won 31 races – including the Elitloppet in 2021, Aabergs in 2022, and this year, Don Fanucci Zet was second in the Elitloppet.
So far, Don Fanucci Zet has earned $2.25 million (U.S. dollars) in his career. He is trained by Daniel Redén and owned by Stall Zet.
Don Fanucci Zet won the Aabergs by three lengths over Mellby Jinx with Daniel Wäjersten and Daim Brodda with Eirik Høitomt.
The first prize was 1,609,000 SEK – equivalent to 1,000 SEK per meter in the race over the English mile – 1609 meters,
