Dream Mine, trained by Jörgen Westholmfirmly, established himself as Sweden’s top 4-year-old trotter by securing his eighth consecutive victory in the Swedish Breeders Crown for 4-year-olds at Eskilstuna on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 15).
Previously, Dream Mine (sired by Maharajah), had claimed both the Svenskt Travderby and the UET Grand Prix titles, and has now completed a magnificent hat trick with the Breeders Crown win.
Saturday’s victory, clocked at a mile rate of 1:55.f, was worth $170,000 and brought Dream Mine’s total earnings to $1.2 million.
The day set the stage for a rematch between Dream Mine and Bullet the Bluesky, driven by Daniel Wäjersten. The latter was last year’s star of the class but hasn’t developed as much this year. Bullet the Bluesky also had a hopeless race, stuck on the outside in the third lane for the entire run.
Trainer Daniel Redén made history during Breeders Crown Day. Not only did he have two winners—Perfect Chest (sired by Perfect Spirit) among the 3-year-old colts and La Yuca (sired by Face Time Bourbon) among the 4-year-old fillies, both driven by Ôrjan Kihlström—but with Saturday’s prize money, Daniel Redén set a new Swedish record for a training stable by surpassing 50 million SEK, or $5.3 million.
No Swedish trainer has ever reached 50 million SEK in a single season before.
Daniel Redén’s stable boasts a win rate of 24%, with 181 victories in 783 starts so far.
