East Rutherford, NJ — Daniel Dube celebrated his 35th birthday by guiding Miki’s King to victory in the eighth race, a $9,000 conditioned pace, on Tuesday night at the Meadowlands.
Miki’s King was career victory 4,794 for Dube and his 95th of the Meadowlands meet, where he is sixth in the driver standings.
Dube put Miki’s King ($8.40, $4.20, $3.20) on the lead by the quarter and the four-year-old gelding held on for a three-quarter length victory over Kafka Hanover ($4.20, $2.60) in 1:521. Pass The Deck ($4.20) was third by a length and a half.
It was the first win in seven starts this year for Miki’s King, who is trained by Mark Ford.
In a non-wagering race before the card, Alex Puchall of Clarksburg, New Jersey, guided Jazzz St Partners to a length and a half victory in the $6,000 American Harness Drivers Spring Pacing Final. The mile was timed in 1:593.
Flying A Head N, driven by Steven Tsokris of Port Jefferson, New York, was second in the showcase for amateur drivers. Answer The Call, driven by John Mull, was a length and three-quarters back in third.
