Eight contest Freehold trot feature

Freehold, NJ — A solid field of eight has been assembled for Thursday’s featured $5,900 conditioned trot at Freehold Raceway.

The lukewarm 3-1 choice in the morning line is Paul Minore and Walter Gower’s She’s A Blizzard. The five-year-old daughter of Malabar Man was dropped to the $5,900 level two starts back but encountered misfortune and finished out of the money in each of those starts. She’s A Blizzard had amassed a 6-6-3 across the board record in 32 starts last year — with her $34,385 in earnings topping the field — and a bit of racing luck could be the recipe for a wake up call on Thursday.

She’s A Blizzard has drawn post three. Gower, who also serves as trainer, has named his son, Taylor, to drive.

B’s Startrek will open on the board as the 7-2 second favorite in the morning line. The five-year-old Super Star Ranger gelding comes into Thursday’s main event fresh off a second place finish in a $5,900 trot at Freehold on Friday which was won by Took The Call in a 2:02 performance.

Jim Marshall III will handle B’s Startrek for trainer Robert Baggitt, Jr. The duo will leave the gate from post two.

Florida Crown, Pure Fox, Baltic Coast, RW Buckshot, KW’s Champion and Mighty Mark complete the field.

Freehold’s 12 race Thursday card gets underway with a first post of 12:30 p.m.
