Berne, IN – El Rey p,2,1:49.2, 3,1:48.3 ($835,391) has been retired and will stand stud at Schwartz Boarding Farm in Indiana in 2026.
The fast son of Captaintreacherous was the winner of the $430,000 Governor’s Cup and multiple legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes at 2. As a sophomore, the pacer won his elimination of the Breeders Crown at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, several legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes and was stakes placed multiple times, including in the Bluegrass, Tattersalls and the Progress Pace.

He was purchased during his 3-year-old season for $525,000 by current owners William Pollock, Bruce Areman and Andrew Harris after being trained by Tony Alagna.
A stunning individual, trainer and co-owner Harris had this to say: “El Rey was a true professional, had a great turn of foot with an impeccable gait. Truly a gifted animal with the heart of a champion.”
Fertility testing was recently conducted at Walnridge Farm and El Rey was approved for a full book of 140 mares. Alvin Schwartz of Schwartz Boarding Farm is excited to bring the son of Captaintreacherous to Indiana and sees it as a great opportunity for Indiana breeders.
“I’ve been looking for the right pacing sire for a while now and El Rey fits the bill. The Pollock, Areman and Harris ownership team has been great for our sport and Schwartz Boarding Farm is proud to partner with them as they enter the breeding side of the market in Indiana.”
El Rey will stand for a fee of $3,500, with discounts available for multiple mares, and will be arriving at Schwartz Boarding Farm soon. Interested breeders should contact Schwartz Boarding at 260-525-2997.
