Dover, DE — Elegant A was a coast-to-coast winner in the $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (March 26).
Elegant A utilized her quick gate speed to force Incaseyoudidntknow and Ludacrous A to take seats through a :27.1 opening quarter. The field of top distaff pacing mares remained single file, allowing Elegant A to reach the half in :55.2. Incaseyoudidntknow, the 6-5 favorite, became eager and started her first-over journey from fourth up the backstretch. Phoenix Rising, the Rosecroft Raceway invader, caught second-over cover. Ludacrous A, normally a grinder, was content to sit in the pocket as Elegant A enjoyed an uncontested lead and reached the three-quarters in 1:23.4.
Turning for home, Incaseyoudidntknow mounted a late charge. Ludacrous A had every opportunity to close along the pylons but failed. Elegant A showed her class and won by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:52.3. Incaseyoudidntknow finished second; Ludacrous A was third.

Elegant A is owned by Pollack Racing LLC, trained by Jeff Cullipher, and was driven by Tim Tetrick. She paid $10.00 to win.
Earlier on the card, Tilted Crown and Bella Artiste won their divisions of the Bally’s Dover late closer for 3-year-old pacing fillies.
