Lexington, KY – Pacing colt Elixir, a son of Downbytheseaside-Yankee Moonshine, sold for $180,000 to top Friday’s fifth and final session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, which concluded with a gross of $60.89 million and average of $68,417.

Elixir, purchased by Summit Bloodstock as agent for Jeff Berger, was one of six horses to sell for at least $100,000 on Friday. The colt’s dam, Yankee Moonshine, was a multiple Grand Circuit winner, including the 2015 Three Diamonds and a Breeders Crown elimination. Elixir was bred by Steve Stewart and Brookside Stables and consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency. He is Ohio and Kentucky eligible.
Next on Friday’s best-sellers list were trotting filly Kissme Ifyoucan (In Range-I Gotta Feelin), who sold for $160,000 to Greg Luther, and pacing colt Route Fifty (Downbytheseaside-Lorrie Please), who sold for $150,000 to Country Club Acres.
Kissme Ifyoucan is a sibling to stakes-winners That Ole Bar Stool and Broadway Socks, out of a family that also includes millionaires Lookout Victory, Magic Tonight and Cedar Dove. She was bred by Polly Hilliard and consigned by Anvil And Lace Farm. She is Ohio and Kentucky eligible.
Route Fifty is a half-brother to Grand Circuit winner Easy To Please, out of the family of multiple Dan Patch Award-winner Galleria. He was bred by Frederick Hertrich III and consigned by All American Harnessbreds. The colt is Ohio and Kentucky eligible, as well as Maryland Fund eligible.
Overall, the fifth session saw 124 yearlings sell for $4 million, an average of $32,290. Last year, 140 horses were sold on Day Five, totaling $4.67 million, an average of $33,369.
This year’s sale, which saw a total of 890 yearlings go through the auction ring, was the fourth in its history to surpass $60 million. Last year, the Lexington Selected Year Sale totaled $65.71 million for 911 horses, an average of $72,132. Both figures were the second best in the sale’s history.
