Elkhorn meet signals start of Wisconsin racing

by Rick Tittsler

Elkhorn, WI — For harness fans living anywhere near southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois, Elkhorn is the place to be this Saturday afternoon, June 18. The Walworth County Fairgrounds, located in scenic Elkhorn along I-43, will host trotters and pacers from Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Post time is 1 p.m. at this historic half-miler.

“This is a great facility for those racing and for those watching,” explains Susan Schroeder of the Wisconsin Harness Horse Association. “We race here again on July 3 and two days during the Walworth County Fair over Labor Day weekend.”

Giveaways and a 50-50 cash raffle are planned. Admission and parking are free and food is available for purchase. It’s a real value in family entertainment, and fans can visit the barns to see the horses and talk with the trainers and drivers.

Elkhorn is located 45 minutes from Milwaukee and just over an hour from Madison. Travel time to Maywood Park in Chicago is just 90 minutes.
