Embrace The Grind upsets in Dover trot; JL Cruze last

Dover, DE — Embrace The Grind set blistering early fractions on his way to a 1:53.1 win in Tuesday’s (Feb. 7) $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover.

Embrace The Grind sprinted quickly to the lead from post four and seated Northern Express in the pocket. Even-money favorite JL Cruze could not find a seat entering the first turn and was parked into early fractions of :26.4 and :55.2 before fading up the backstretch. After hitting three-quarters in 1:24, Embrace The Grind remained loose on the lead entering the lane. The 7-year-old Keystone Activator gelding won by two lengths and paid $17.20 to win, with Tony Morgan driving for owner-trainer Bobby Glassmeyer.
