Entries being taken for Shenandoah County Fair

Woodstock, VA — The first box for the 2015 Shenandoah County Fair race day closes on Monday (Aug. 31) at 11 a.m.

Driver Billy Carter will attempt to return to his winning ways at the fair after winning the 2014 driving title. Last year Carter won 13 races during the week including five victories on the final afternoon of racing. Trainer/driver Betsy Brown will be bringing a lot of her horses in and is looking to take a crack at a potential driving title this year.

Racing will be conducted at the fair starting on Wednesday and will continue through Saturday. The condition sheets for the fair can be found via the USTA website and the box will close two days prior to the scheduled race day at 11 a.m.

As usual, there will be charted lines for the races, post time for each of the four days of racing will be at 1 p.m. The racing at the fair is a free event and is included with your admission to the fair.

The fair will host a variety of events for both young and older patrons. Wednesday (Sept. 2) is Senior Citizen’s Day and will feature half-priced admission for seniors until 4 p.m. The fair will honor Veterans on Thursday (Sept. 3) by having a Veterans’ Tribute Day and offer free admission until 6 p.m.
